Amanda Winans, deputy statewide interoperability coordinator for the state of North Carolina, talks about several public-safety-communications initiatives in the state, including next-generation 911 (NG911) progress, interoperability with the VIPER P25 system, and efforts to identify sources of interference that are harmful to first-responder communications.

IWCE 2026 conference attendees can hear more from Winans by attending a session entitled "Hunting Interference ... Easy Enough That Firefighters Are Doing It" on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. Las Vegas time. Winans is scheduled to participate in the session as a panelist.
