Seemi Khan, M.D., M.P.H., M.B.A. is the Chief Development and Strategy Officer at Alkeus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Cambridge, Massachusetts). She is an accomplished biopharmaceutical executive with nearly two decades of experience leading global drug development, regulatory strategy, and organizational leadership across multiple therapeutic areas, including rare diseases, immunology, nephrology, ophthalmology, and neuroscience.
Dr. Khan is a board-certified internist and nephrologist. She completed her residency and fellowship at Tufts Medical Center and subsequently served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine before transitioning to the pharmaceutical industry. She also holds a Master of Public Health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and a Master of Business Administration from Brandeis University.
Prior to joining Alkeus, Dr. Khan served as Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Reata Pharmaceuticals, where she played a key leadership role in the development, regulatory approval, and successful launch of the first approved therapy for Friedreich's ataxia. Reata was subsequently acquired by Biogen.
Throughout her industry career, Dr. Khan has led numerous clinical development programs spanning early discovery through global registration and commercialization. She has been instrumental in shaping development and regulatory strategies, building and leading high-performing multidisciplinary teams, and overseeing multiple therapeutic portfolios and functional organizations across all phases of drug development. Before joining Reata, she held senior leadership positions at Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma America, Quark Pharmaceuticals, Abbott, and AbbVie, where she contributed to the advancement of innovative therapies addressing significant unmet medical need.
