Biofouling Prevention Forum
Optimise your fleet: Controlling and preventing biofouling and invasive species.
Prevent Biofouling. Save the environment!
Biofouling has been a massive problem since decades. The implications of biofouling have a far-reaching effect on the oceanic logistics & transportation. It has a major economic, environmental, and ecological impact on the world we live in.
Multiple solutions have been found to restrict biofouling; however, resistance has been one of the main factors when finding a perfect solution, given the global focus is now on protecting marine biodiversity. The IMO’s GHG emissions reduction targets state that shipping must reduce its CO2 emissions by at least 40% by 2030.
To deter biofouling, anti-fouling paints are used to prevent the growth of marine life on the submerged surfaces. At the same time, biocidal antifouling paints are toxic to marine organisms. Hence, researchers are working on developing a compound that is economically and environmentally viable.
Despite advances with regards to regulations and development of optimal solutions there has been no astute way to tackle biofouling.
Against the above backdrop, this 3-hour focused forum will bring together different stakeholders, researchers, and policy makers to discuss on the evolving need for a rational solution to prevent biofouling, adherence to regulatory compliances and the development of environment friendly anti-fouling products.
So to learn more about the prevention of biofouling join us on the 20th of September from 10:00 - 13:00 CET.
