Profile
Professor Tang is the Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and Head of Discretionary Portfolio Management for Emerging Markets, in Deutsche Bank’s Private Bank. In this position, he is responsible for developing regional CIO strategies, enhancing client engagement, and providing actionable investment insights across emerging markets (APAC, Middle East, Latam). Concurrently, he holds the title of Head of Discretionary Portfolio Management (DPM) for Emerging Markets, where he is responsible for the continued development and growth of the discretionary portfolio business in the region.
Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Professor Tang worked at Goldman Sachs, where he was head of the Investment Strategy Group, head of the Portfolio Management Group, and head of the Portfolio Advisory Group for the Asset and Wealth Management Division in Asia, advising ultra-high-net-worth and institutional clients on strategic asset allocation, tactical investment strategies, and customized portfolio solutions.
Earlier in his career, Professor Tang worked at Credit Suisse, where he was head of the Greater China Research and the Chief China Strategist. He also worked as an investment strategist at Brevan Howard Asset Management, managing an emerging markets hedge fund.
Professor Tang has served as an Adjunct Professor in Finance for the University of Hong Kong Faculty of Business and Economics and has taught a variety of courses in behavioural finance, sustainable finance, financial markets, asset allocation and portfolio management. He also served as a master’s dissertation supervisor in sustainable finance at the University of Cambridge. Jacky earned a PhD in Economics from the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and a master’s degree in Sustainability Leadership from the University of Cambridge.
