Paul AstengoGibraltar Finance at HM Government of Gibraltar
Joining Gibraltar Finance, HM Government of Gibraltar, in February 2013 Paul leads new business creation in innovation initiatives including those covering the new technologies sector. He has played a key role, as co-chair of the Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) Working Group, in the delivery of the DLT Regulatory Framework in January 2018, the world’s first legislation for this nascent industry. Paul is a founding member of the New Technologies in Education Key Advisory Group (NTiE). A key HM Government of Gibraltar partnership including the University of Gibraltar, Department of Education and a strong representation of private sector firms, global leaders in their respective fields, with undoubted expertise and who support education initiatives for this sector. He has also jointly driven the creation of the Gibraltar Association for New Technologies (GANT) in October 2018. GANT is a trade association that represents technology firms and will drive forward Gibraltar’s innovative approach to Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT). GANT is a member of the Finance Centre Council. Paul has over 40 years’ commercial and banking experience gained multi jurisdictionally. Paul drives the introduction and ongoing refresh of legislation in a number of emerging areas. His career has seen him undertake a wide variety of roles in both domestic and international markets in which he has gained extensive experience in developing relationships with executives, entrepreneurs and high net worth individuals from across the globe.
