As a partner focused on the investment industry, Brett’s approach to working with clients centers around taking a comprehensive look at their needs and goals. He not only offers specialized audit expertise, but he helps clients understand other important issues impacting their unique products. Beyond direct client work, Brett also serves as a conduit, often linking investment industry clients to their peers and outside resources critical to their success.

Since joining the firm in 2005, Brett has specialized in providing audit and consulting services to various entities focused in the investment industry, including mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, hedge funds, investment advisers and related service providers. He services multiple family trusts and hedge funds ranging from startups to those with assets in excess of to $230 billion. Brett also leads the firm’s Exchange-Traded Funds Group and works with issuers on the various accounting and tax considerations for various products. Brett’s current client base includes a mix of equity, fixed income, international, fund-of-funds and closed-end funds, including many newly organized fund complexes. The funds include a wide variety of investments and objectives, including complex investments and derivatives (futures and options), illiquid and hard-to-value securities, repurchase agreements, short sales, affiliated issuers, master limited partnerships (MLPs) and controlled foreign corporations (CFCs).
