Marcelo Macedo Valinhas is a Senior Environmental Engineer at Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras), currently serving as Waste Sector Manager. He holds a strong academic background, including a degree in Agronomic Engineering from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (1990), specialization in Geoprocessing from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2002), an MBA in Environmental Management from FGV-Rio de Janeiro (2004), and a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering from the Federal Institute of Science and Technology Fluminense (2009).
At Petrobras since 2006, Marcelo is responsible for environmental licensing and the management of storage and final disposition of NORM (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material) waste generated by offshore exploration and production units. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Engineering at COPPE/UFRJ, focusing on NORM management.
Beyond his operational responsibilities, Marcelo coordinates the NORM Working Group at the Brazilian Institute of Oil, Gas and Biofuels (IBP), where he actively participates in the review and update of Best Practice Guidelines on NORM management for the Brazilian oil and gas sector.
