Don MacKinnon is Head of Commercial Real Estate Credit and a Portfolio Manager on the Commercial Real Estate platform at Sound Point Capital Management, which he joined in 2016. He also serves on the firm's Commercial Real Estate Investment Committee, Risk Committee, and Strategic Planning Committee, among others. Prior to Sound Point, Don was President and COO of Realty Finance Trust, Inc., a non-traded REIT, where he started the company, raised $800 million of equity, built a 24-person team, and originated a $1.3 billion debt portfolio. Earlier, he was Co-Head and Co-Founder of the Commercial Mortgage Group and Manager of the European Asset Securitization Group at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, and held senior roles at Nomura Securities International and Cole Real Estate Investments.

Don holds a B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School
