James is a partner in the investment funds group at Paul, Weiss. His practice focuses on advising private fund sponsors on all aspects of GP-led secondary transactions, asset management M&A, GP stakes and other strategic or upper-tier transactions, seeding arrangements, co-investment arrangements, spin-outs and joint ventures. James is known for his commercial, solutions-oriented approach and his deep knowledge of transactions in the secondary market and asset management M&A. Since joining Paul, Weiss in April 2024, James has been in non-stop demand by several of the firm’s largest private capital clients and James has led several high profile GP-led continuation fund transactions for existing Paul, Weiss clients alongside his work for clients which have been migrated from his former firm and mandates that have been entrusted to the Paul, Weiss European Investment Funds Group by new clients. James is a rare advisor who bridges two increasingly important worlds in the private capital industry: M&A and fund formation. Few European lawyers of any seniority have handled more GP-led secondary or asset management M&A deals in Europe than James.
