Charlotte Lawrence is Managing Director, Head of Direct Equity for the British Business Bank (“BBB”). She leads the Bank’s Direct Equity investment activities as part of the Investment business that is investing £2bn p.a. combined into indirect and direct investment in the UK VC. Direct Equity targets initial equity investments of £10m to £40m and long-term cumulative investments from £10m up to £75m into standout UK VC-backed technology leaders with a particular focus on Life Sciences, Core AI, DeepTech (Advanced Manufacturing, Clean Energy, Defence), Verticalized AI and Fintech.

Charlotte has two decades of experience across corporate finance and growth equity. Her previous roles include as a Managing Director investing in European software businesses for PSG Equity, a $28bn AUM growth equity firm, as well as over a decade investing for the European Technology fund at global investment firm The Carlyle Group. Her early career was spent working at Merrill Lynch in investment banking.

Charlotte also has extensive Board experience, including former positions on the boards of Zenchef, Visualfabriq Revenue Management, Nalanda Global, Mapal OS, Eggplant Software, Itconic, Nature Delivered and The Foundry Visionmongers, as well as currently as an advisory Investment Committee Member at Albion Capital, a £1bn AUM UK venture capital firm.

Charlotte holds an MPhysPhil in Physics and Philosophy from the University of Oxford.
