Federal agencies have significantly increased their use of AI, more than doubling its adoption in just one year. Currently, AI is being utilized in administrative and human resources functions, particularly in recruitment processes. NASA, a leading user of AI, employs it for flight simulations, showcasing its potential in high-stakes environments. Translation services were among the first successful applications of AI, demonstrating its ability to streamline communication and bridge language barriers.
AI is also being leveraged to identify critical incidents in real time, providing government agencies with enhanced situational awareness. This capability is crucial for emergency response and disaster management, where timely and accurate information can save lives.
Emerging Technologies Shaping the Future
The session explored how drones, robotics, and deployable satellite assets are reshaping public safety. These technologies enable real-time data collection and analysis, predictive analytics, and automated workflows. For example, drones can provide a holistic view of spatial areas during emergencies, while robots can assist in hazardous environments, reducing risks to human responders.
Satellite technology plays a foundational role in ensuring connectivity, especially in remote or disaster-stricken areas. This connectivity is essential for deploying AI and other advanced technologies effectively across the public sector.

For instance, advancements in voice analysis could enable health assessments within 40 seconds of conversation, providing valuable insights for emergency responders. Additionally, AI could offer more holistic views of individual health and spatial areas, enhancing decision-making and resource allocation.
