The Australian Context

Australia’s rail sector is undergoing its largest infrastructure expansion in a generation. Digital capability is now a critical requirement

Major Projects suitable to drive BIM

  • Sydney Metro West & Southwest
  • Cross River Rail - Brisbane
  • Melbourne Metro Tunnel Project and Suburban Rail Loop (SRL)
  • METRONET expansion - Perth
  • Inland Rail - ARTC 1,700km freight corridor
  • High-SpeedRail

Australian Digital Mandates

  • Infrastructure Australia: digital-first delivery
  • NATSPEC BIM requirements on public projects
  • Transport for NSW Digital Program
  • Queensland Rail digital transformation strategy
  • ISO 19650 adoption across federal and state agencies

Key Rail Organisations including

  • Transport for NSW
  • Sydney Trains
  • Metro Trains Melbourne
  • Queensland Rail
  • ARTC (Australian Rail Track Corporation)

Why This Training Now

  • BIM is mandated on all government projects over $50M
  • Digital twins becoming a standard for O&M
  • Skills gap: demand outpacing supply for BIM professionals
  • Consultants & Contractors must demonstrate BIM capabilities
  • BIM provides great potential for transparency and cost efficiency during asset management
