This panel discussion will focus on the practical ways construction teams can improve resilience by aligning design decisions, procurement planning, and delivery execution. The discussion will avoid owner-side strategy and instead concentrate on the realities of the construction supply chain: specification quality, lead times, substitution risk, trade coordination, supplier relationships, and simple governance practices that improve decision-making.

Leading in the age of agents: preparing leaders for new decision rights and behavioral change
Description Agentic AI is fundamentally changing what it means to lead. While many organizations are investing in AI tools, training, and new roles, far fewer are preparing leaders for the profound shift in decision rights, accountability, and trust that occurs when autonomous agents begin executing multi-step workflows. This fireside conversation examines the leadership behavior gap that often exists between technological readiness and organizational transformation. It explores how leaders must evolve their approach to setting guardrails, managing exceptions, delegating with confidence, and fostering psychological safety in hybrid human–agent teams.
Building infill in the real world: excavation, access, staging, neighbours & surprises
Infill development is essential to meeting housing demand, but building in established neighbourhoods comes with a unique set of challenges. Drawing on real-world experience from multi-unit infill projects ranging from six to one hundred units, this session will explore the practical realities of delivering successful infill developments. Topics will include site staging and logistics, excavation challenges, servicing constraints, construction sequencing, access limitations, neighbouring property considerations, and other common pain points encountered during design and construction. This session will also touch on recent building code and zoning developments in Ottawa that are creating new opportunities—or new challenges—for infill projects.
