Greenbuild's 2026 Host Committee
The experts on Greenbuild's Host Committee help highlight the best local community projects that exhibit resilient, low-carbon and healthy design and operations.
New York's Host Committee
USGBC’s Northeast region is thrilled to host this year's Greenbuild International Conference and Expo. The 2026 Host Committee is comprised of dedicated leaders who share a deep passion for sustainability and resilience. With their broad expertise and inspiring vision, they are helping craft an unforgettable Greenbuild experience.
The Greenbuild Host Committee has a rich and enduring history spanning more than 20 years, with thousands of volunteers and industry partners representing various areas of expertise in the green building environment. Volunteering for the Host Committee is a unique opportunity for local building professionals to go behind the scenes of this international event and make it a memorable celebration for our community.
This year, the committee is led by a team of dedicated co-chairs—Ellen Honigstock, Urban Green Council, and Hrisa Gatzoulis, Rudin—as well as USGBC and Urban Green Council staff. The co-chairs help plan the overall vision of the conference and work closely with subcommittees to set goals and ensure they are met.
Subcommittees within the Host Committee
The Greenbuild Host Committee is organized into focused subcommittees, each playing a critical role in shaping a meaningful, impactful and sustainably driven conference experience. Together, they help Greenbuild showcase sustainability at its best and leave something truly valuable behind for the host city. These subcommittees are:
- Legacy Project Subcommittee: Tasked with making a lasting positive impact in New York City, this subcommittee identifies and implements a legacy project that offers long-term value for local residents.
- Tours Subcommittee: Focused on highlighting the city’s most exemplary sustainable buildings and spaces, this group evaluates, curates and executes tours that bring the conference’s themes to life through real-world projects.
- Sustainability Subcommittee: Dedicated to minimizing the environmental footprint of the conference, this group supports Greenbuild’s sustainability strategy, from waste reduction and energy efficiency to the recruitment and management of volunteers who help implement eco‑friendly practices throughout the conference. Members of this subcommittee also support the annual Greenbuild scholarship program, which demonstrates USGBC and Greenbuild’s efforts to provide equitable access to the conference and green building movement/community.
