Profile

I am a distressed debt investor and financial professional that brings a strategic methodology to purchasing, restructuring, and managing commercial problem loans. I encourage and espouse a consultative approach in the restructuring process seeking a mutually beneficial solution for all parties in the transaction. My firm, Castlebar Holdings, provides asset resolution solutions to financial institutions through purchasing or refinancing troubled CRE and C&I loans as well as delivering bank advisory / consulting services.

I created and launched the distressed debt sale process at Wells Fargo Bank in 2018 and we sold over $1 billion in secured assets in over 43 states. I led the Portfolio Sale Team and managed all critical aspects of these complex transactions including portfolio selection, vendor and buyer management, compliance, modeling and execution. We achieved superior results for the bank by believing in a transparent disclosure process and mitigating any and all reputational risk.

I led a team of commercial workout bankers that were geographically dispersed and serviced a nationwide portfolio. I coached my team to find win-win solutions for the criticized commercial real estate and commercial and industrial loans that comprised my portfolio. My mantra in crafting restructuring and resolution strategies was to seek the solution that provided the bank and our shareholders the highest net present value on the asset.

I am on the Editorial Board of the Risk Management Association Journal and have been published six times in the journal. I was also an adjunct professor at the University of Tampa and was recognized as the “Most Outstanding Part-Time Faculty” by the Sykes College of Business. I am on the Board of Florida Turnaround Management Association and the Florida Risk Management Association. I am also a judge in the University of Florida’s “Next Big Idea” business case competition. I was also recognized as a “40 Under 40 Leader” in the Tampa Bay Business Journal in 2021.

Over my career, I’ve worked on hundreds of distressed debt situations — as a banker, portfolio leader, and advisor. I know how challenging it can be to manage stressed and distressed credits in today’s environment. That’s why I created The Workout Playbook — a practical, field-tested guide for Special Assets teams, workout professionals, and credit leaders.
